We are honored to have had Poppy De Marco Dennis serve on our board. She spent her whole life teaching and empowering the next generation of changemakers as a public school teacher and as an active member of San Diego politics in her retirement. She was a passionate public servant that fought to make the world a better place by advocating for the environment, women’s rights, and labor rights. Poppy knew the importance of preserving and protecting open space and her legacy lives on in those she inspired to follow in her path.

Poppy was a San Dieguito Planning Board Member, Environmental Legislative Aide for a County Supervisor, and the Founder of Community Coalition Network.  She also served as a San Diego County Central Committee member and California Democratic Party Executive Board member. 

During her time with us, many board members recall her strong commitment to the cause and her warming presence. She is missed dearly.
